Hey there bloggers, I'm back!
Today my blog is about the summer learning journey and today is the 5th day f the first week! I think that I ma making good progress with the summer learning journey. For today's activity, we have to write reasons why we dis/agree with loggers. Loggers are people or cut tree's and make them into other things.
What do you think about logging? Should it be aloud? Or should it be banned? Well, agree with both. Because if we don't cut down some tree's and turn them into other stuff like paper, then we won't have that. Tree's do not only make paper, but they can make other useful stuff like houses, or other wooden materials. But then we also need to stop cutting tree's because all of our tree's are getting cut and leaving a tree less space where there used to be beautiful big trees with braches where now is just some pile of dirt. What do you think?
For the second activity we have to do this:
While it can get quite cold in New Zealand, it rarely drops below freezing (00C). Most of the time the temperature in New Zealand is pretty mild. This is not the case in the tundra. The tundra is an area of land (biome) that is cold, dry and completely treeless. Did you know that the average temperature in the tundra is -280C?
Over the past few years, however, the temperature in the tundra has been rising and the weather has been changing. Let’s imagine that your teacher decides to take you on a class trip to the tundra before the weather changes too much and you aren’t able to go.
On your blog, write a letter to your best friend or a family member telling them about your trip to the tundra. To earn full points your letter must have a greeting (eg. Dear…) followed by 5 – 6 sentences of information about what your experience.
Dear Jedi,
The trip to Tundra was great except it was very hot on the day and I didn't bring much water, I forgot we were going on Wednesday, because I thought that it was Tuesday since I didn't come to school Monday. I was very thirsty but the view was amazing! I had lot's of fun except I was very thirsty because it was a very hot place. I was dripping with sweat all day long, if there was a lake there, I would jump in it no matter how cold it was or how hot it was. It would probably be hot because it is a hot place but then it can be cold because you never know what the weather is going to be like. I wish knew we where going so I could bring a camera or something to take photos of the fantastic view. Hopefully we go again, it was lot's of fun! We should go together, don't you think?
Kind regards, Parwin
Here is what we have to do for the bonus activity!
Over the years, scientists have made some surprising discoveries. One of
these discoveries is that we have entire cities (e.g. Jakarta, Indonesia and Venice, Italy) that are slowly sinking into the ocean. Scientists believe that, one day, the cities will disappear completely under the water. Yikes!
Some of the residents (people living in the cities) have taken pictures of their neighbourhoods and written stories about their lives in order to make a record of what ‘life was like’ in their city before it disappeared.
Let’s imagine that New Zealand was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean next week (Eek!). Before it sinks you are asked to write a blog post telling people what life was like in New Zealand in 2018.
On your blog, post a description of life in New Zealand in 2018. Please remember that the people who read your post will have never been to New Zealand or even seen a picture so it is your job to ‘paint a picture’ of New Zealand using your words. You can also post pictures, if you wish. Be sure to fully attribute the pictures.
New Zealand is a wonderful place for living, there are beautiful places and animals. Wonderful places and walking trails, there are many places you can go to from the North Island to South. Ever place is like treasure, a valuable place. Every city or place is perfect for you, whether you prefer a flat place or a mountain place. I have been to a couple of places and I think that Christchurch is the best place because there are shops everywhere and you don't have to drive that much to reach to the stores, in fact, you can just walk there! New Zealand is truly and wonder place to live and I am sure that you will love New Zealand if you come here, how you been to New Zealand?
Hi Parwin,
ReplyDeleteWell done on completing another day's activities for the Summer Learning Journey. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
I love that you have included both arguments in your explanation about logging and I have to agree with you on both sides. Do you know if there are other materials they could use to build homes instead of wood? Have you heard about the "Billion Trees" initiative the government has put in place to help regenerate our native plants?
New Zealand is a wonderful place to live don't you think?! I recently moved back here from Australia and I am loving it so much. Australia's weather was really great however it got too hot sometimes and there are lots of creepy crawlies I wasn't too fond of! Have you been to Australia before?
Until next time, happy blogging :)
