SLJ- 4!

Hello bloggers, I'm back and at it again!
Today is the 4th day of the holidays are also the Summer Learning Journey! If you don't know what it is then keep reading on but if you already know what it is then skip on to the next paragraph. So the Summer Learning Journey happens through out the summer holidays and the reason why we should do it is because we spend all that time in school learning but when we have the holidays, we forget about everything because we are having so much fun! Then we have what is called a Summer Slump which kind of shows how your learning was, before and after the holidays. The reason why we should do it is so we don't forget everything we learnt but we also learn new things! If you come 1st, 2nd or 3rd, out of your school, then you win awesome prizes but if you come 1st out of your cluster you win a Chromebook or many other cool prizes! I think its worth it!

For each day, there are 2 activities which are worth 4 points each and there is also a bonus activity which is worth 6 points. If you do all of it, then that is 14 points, plus 2 points for every comment or reply if it is a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment! Here is the first activity!
Billie Jean KingVenus Williams, and Serena Williams are three exceptional, female tennis players. They are not only outstanding athletes and some of the best tennis players in the world, but they have fought for women to be recognised as equals to men in the game of tennis. Billie Jean King famously beat a male tennis player, Bobby Riggs, in 1973, to prove to the public that women could compete at any level in tennis.
For this activity, watch these videos about Serena and Venus Williams.
On your blog, tell us three things that you learned from watching these videos, as well as one thing you would still like to know.

Here s what I have done!

Here is the Second activity!
Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all time. He started boxing when he was 12 years old and went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion numerous times in the 1960s and 1970s.
Muhammad Ali was an African American man born with the name Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. When he was a young man, however, he became a Muslim and converted to Islam. When he converted, he changed his name to Muhammad Ali. During his life, Ali gave a lot of time and money to various charities. He also helped to feed more than 22 million people across the world who didn’t have enough food. Despite all of his charitable work, Muhammad Ali is still best known for his agressive boxing style, his confident personality and his inspirational quotes.
Changing your name is a big deal! If you were to change your name, what would you change it to?
For this activity, imagine that you were allowed to change your name to anything that you wanted.
On your blog, tell us what you would change your name to and why you would choose that name.

Here is what I have done!

Here is the bonus activity!
Dame Valerie Adams (half sister of basketballer, Steven Adams) is a shot put champion from New Zealand (NZ). She has won the World Championships four times as well as both gold and silver medals at the Olympics. Here, in New Zealand, she has won the Halberg Award for New Zealand Sportswoman of the Year seven consecutive times (2006-2012)! She is a bit of a legend both in NZ and in her homeland of Tonga.
Valerie Adams is a proud Tongan New Zealander. You can see her wearing a ta’ovala in the photo. There are many Tongans living in New Zealand - you may be one of them! The Kingdom of Tonga is a group of 169 islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is located between Fiji, Samoa and Niue. Here are some travel tips about Tonga.
For this activity, imagine that you were asked to create a travel brochure for Tonga (or a country that is important to you). On the brochure, include lots of great tips about what to see and do in the country.
On your blog, post your finished copy of your brochure.

Here is my brochure!
I did my brochure on a Canva but I couldn't upload it so here is a link!

I hope you enjoyed my blog post! If you have any questions, then please ask! Otherwise, until next time, goodbye!

  1. Bula Parwin,

Well done on completing another day's worth of SLJ activities.
Just remember to pop each activity in a separate post. It makes it easier for the blog commenters to identify and track activities as well as giving others more opportunity to comment and in turn giving you more opportunities to reply and gain even more points.

I really like that you decided that your name was too special and unique to change. I think that it's so cool that your name means brightest star! The slide you created to do the activity was really well done too.

What a fantastic travel poster you created. I love the pink and the purple that you used to make it stand out. You mentioned in your poster that the food is delicious, what is your favourite food from Afghanistan?

Until next time, happy blogging :)

Well, I really enjoy Biryani which is spricy rice and I also like some of the treats which are made because they are delicous but you can't find them here apart from persian or afghan shops.

  3. Hello Parvin ,
Its me Alan. I did not know you was in the summer learning journey.

Excellent job Parvin and a very catchy title. I really liked how you made the vedio.

This reminds me of when I did this but I did not do it like a vedio

If you want to improve maybe you can put more pictures so that we can know more.
    Awesome work!
Looking forward to your next posts,
    Kind regards
    Alan

    1. Hello Alan, thank you so much for commenting on my blog!

I am in the Summer Learning Journey, just like last year!

Thank you, but it was actually a presentation!

I didn't really understand what you meant when you said to add more pictures so that we could understand, what did you mean?

Also, before pressing publish, make sure you do't have any errors!

Thanks for taking your time and writing a positive comment,

  4. Hey Parwin,

    Me again. :)

I really like the way you've presented your information on the Williams sisters - it looks just like a tennis court! :) You've shared some great little facts about the sisters as well. I learnt from another Summer Learning Journey blogger that Serena was only 3 years old when she first started playing tennis. Isn't that amazing?! No wonder she's so good at it! Do you like tennis?

    Have a great day, Parwin.

    Blog ya later! :)

    Mikey
