SLJ- 10!

Hello Bloggers, I'm back and at it again!
Today is the 10th day of the Summer Learning Journey and also the holidays! If you don't know what the Summer Learning Journey is then keep reading, otherwise, skip to the next paragraph! So the Summer Learning Journey happens through out the summer holidays and the reason why we should do it is because we spend all that time in school learning but when we have the holidays, we forget about everything because we are having so much fun! Then we have what is called a Summer Slump which kind of shows how your learning was, before and after the holidays. The reason why we should do it is so we don't forget everything we learnt but we also learn new things! If you come 1st, 2nd or 3rd, out of your school, then you win awesome prizes but if you come 1st out of your cluster you win a Chromebook or many other cool prizes! I think its worth it!

Each day, there are 2 main activities which are both worth 4 points and then there is a main activity which is worth 6 points. If you complete all of them, then you get 14 points in total! Each comment or reply you do as well is 2 points each! Okay, lets get started! This is what I have to do for the first activity!

Every day, the men and women in the Emergency Services provide help and support people in New Zealand and around the world. At times, they have to risk their lives in order to save others.
Common Emergency Services include the Fire Service, the Police Force and the Ambulance Service. Other related services include the Air AmbulanceSearch and RescueCoast GuardSurf Lifesaving, and the Civil Defence (amongst others).

In Australia, Fire Services are currently fighting more than 150 wildfires burning in New South Wales, a province on the east coast of the country. The wildfires started in November 2019 and are not expected to stop for many weeks. It is a very challenging time for the men and women serving in the Emergency Services in Australia.
For this activity, please brainstorm at least five ways we could support the people who are affected by the fires in New South Wales, Australia. You could think of ways to raise money, things to send them, and ways to keep them feeling positive.
On your blog, share your brainstorm of ideas and create a video or audio recording of yourself explaining each idea.

Here is what I have done!

Here is the second activity!

Activity 2: Leading by Example [4 points]
Mother Teresa and Princess Diana were both people who wanted to do things to help others. They were very different people, however they both had a significant impact on the world.
Mother Teresa was born in Eastern Europe but decided at a young age that she wanted to be a missionary (a person who gets sent somewhere to share their religious faith and do charity work). She moved to India where she worked hard and cared for those who needed her the most. Her work was recognised by the Catholic Church, which gave her the title of ‘Saint’ Teresa.
Diana, while not officially a saint, was a real-life princess. In her role as a princess, she travelled the world raising awareness about a number of important issues. Through her work, Princess Diana helped the world to see that all people, including those affected by illness and disease, needed love and respect. Princess Diana and Mother Teresa both led by example with acts of kindness towards others.
For this activity, we would like you to follow in their footsteps and perform a random act of kindness.
On your blog, describe your random act of kindness. What did you do? How did the person react? How did it make you feel?

I will explain what I did here!
I basically wrote a note to one of my neighbors, this is what it said!

If you aren't having a good day, remember that after a bad day, there is always a good one. That is how it is! Remember that what seems difficult now, will soon be your warm up so don't give up!
From someone...
(Write a positive note and put it in one of your neighbors mail box and write this down at the bottom too!)
This is the 3rd activity!
You have now made it to the end of Week 2 and have earned the chance to choose your very own politician or activist who you think has changed the world. There are no right or wrong choices for this activity, so find someone who interests you and tell us about them on your blog. It could be someone from your family, church, community and/or someone famous who you admire.
Here are some starting points in case you get stuck:
For this activity, choose one person and read all about them.
On your blog, provide us with:
  1. The name of the person
  2. A description of the work they do/have done
  3. An explanation of how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others

I will just do it here!

I have chosen Xi jinping. He is the president of the Peoples Republic of China. I have chosen this person because his name caught my attention. Why,  because I have social media, and I have heard of him on there but what for? Because he is trapping Uigher muslims in concentration camps and he is forcing them to follow the chinese religon. They are forcing those muslims to burn the Quran which is basically there Bible. They are forcing them to worship there god and forget about their religons. I think this is a bad thing because no one should be forced to do this, they shouldbn't be trapped in concentartion camps because of this. They started this is 2017 and it has almost been over 3 years since its almost 2020. There are over 3 million muslims trapped in those camps at the moment. The impact of this is not a good impact because people should be able to belive in their religon without being forced in any way.
SPREAD AWARENESS!
That is it for today, I hope you enjoyed! If you have any questions, then please ask! Otherwise, until next time, goodbye!

  1. Hi Parwin! It's Mia from Yaldhurst. Great work! you have done a large amount of amazing work here! It was really interesting to read and had lots of information.

That's really nice of you! Sending a note to your neighbor! Did they respond back to you? You don't need to do something big to give kindness, just holding the door for someone, or saying hi is still an act of kindness!

To improve, maybe you could add in some pictures or make it more colorful! Also, hopefully you can start using Canva, Visme or something else to create your posts!

    Awesome work though!

    1. Hey Mia, thank you so much for commenting on my blog!

They haven't sent a note back but the idea is to kind of pass it on and write a positive message for someone else and tell them to passing it on and keep the chain going.

Maybe on my last post, I could make it look really cool and use some websites to make it the best!

Thanks for taking your time and writing a positive comment,

  4. Kia ora Parwin,

Great work on completing another Summer Learning Journey activity - keep up the good work. Don’t forget to comment back to blog commenters as well as on others SLJ blog posts to gain extra points.

What is happening in Australia is extremely sad and heartbreaking however it's amazing how people band together and do what they can to support others in a time of crisis such as this one. I like that your ideas are around donating and fundraising for those that need it. What sort of organisations could you donate to or fundraise for to support those that need relief from the bushfires?

It sounds like you have thought really hard about why you disagree with Xi Jinping's treatment of muslims in China. You have raised some really valid points and I think they are points that you are passionate about bringing awareness to. You would make an incredible leader as you are thinking about how others decisions may affect the lives of other people. Being a thoughtful and helpful person is such an important quality of a leader.
What qualities do you think makes a good leader and why?

Until next time, happy blogging :)

    1. Hello Emma, thank you so much for commenting on my blog!

I'm not sure but there are probably some sort of charity or something that is making money to help the people who are being effected by the bush fires. I heard that people on facebook donated money and made I think it was over 2 million or 20 million. One of those. There are also things on social media like there was a post which said that everytime you share this, it donates money or something like that!

I think that the 2 things you have just said is very important, you msut not only think about yourself but you have to think of how your decisons will effect others as well. You have to be respectful, truthful and calm.

Thanks for taking your time and writing a positive comment,
