SLJ- 17!

Hello Bloggers, I'm back and at it again!
Today is the 17th day of the Summer Learning Journey and also the holidays! If you don't know what the Summer Learning Journey is then keep reading, otherwise, skip to the next paragraph! So the Summer Learning Journey happens through out the summer holidays and the reason why we should do it is because we spend all that time in school learning but when we have the holidays, we forget about everything because we are having so much fun! Then we have what is called a Summer Slump which kind of shows how your learning was, before and after the holidays. The reason why we should do it is so we don't forget everything we learnt but we also learn new things! If you come 1st, 2nd or 3rd, out of your school, then you win awesome prizes but if you come 1st out of your cluster you win a Chromebook or many other cool prizes! I think its worth it!

Each day, there are 2 main activities which are both worth 4 points and then there is a main activity which is worth 6 points. If you complete all of them, then you get 14 points in total! Each comment or reply you do as well is 2 points each! Okay, lets get started! This is what I have to do for the first activity!

Activity 1: Getting Stronger [4 points]
Aaradhna is a Samoan-Indian singer from New Zealand. As a girl, Aaradhna sang traditional Samoan and country songs with her family, eventually joining the senior choir at her high school (Porirua College). She gained international recognition in 2004 when she paired up with Adeaze to release the song, “Getting Stronger.” The song went to number one on the New Zealand Singles Chart and it is still one of my all-time favourites, to this day!
Speaking of favourite songs, we would love to know who you listen to and what songs you like the most.
For this activity, please give us a list of your ‘Top 5’ favourite artists (singers or bands) and your ‘Top 5’ favourite songs. They can be from any time period and any genre (type) of music.
On your blog, post lists of your Top 5 Artists and your Top 5 Songs.
*Remember to attribute any images that you borrow from the internet or from other people.
*Please check out the Eye-Catching Blog Posts page for ideas!
I will just do it here!
Favourite arists, singers or bands are...
1- BTS!
2- Ali Gatie
3- Sabrina Carpenter
4- Faouzia
5- DJ Khalid

Top favourite songs are...

1- Better
2- Up this mountain
3- mikrokosmos
4- Its you
5- Exhale

Here is the 2nd activity!
Activity 2: K-pop heroes [4 points]
BTS, or Bangtan Boys, is a seven member boy band from South Korea. They have sold over 15 million albums in South Korea, which make them the best selling artists in South Korea of all time. They have topped the music charts in the United States of America and around the world.
They began singing hip hop but now sing mostly K-Pop (Korean Pop). Most of their songs are sung in Korean - their first language.
BTS is famous for making great music videos and for singing about topics that many people can relate to - love, self-confidence, etc. They have a huge and very loyal fan base. Their fans are called the BTS A.R.M.Y

For this activity, please watch this CBS Sunday Morning Special about BTS.
On your blog, tell us your opinion on BTS. Please don’t just say whether or not you like them, but tell us what it is that you like (or don’t like) about them.
*Please check out the Eye-Catching Blog Posts page for ideas!
I do like BTS because msot of their songs are inspirational or about positive things. I also like how they are very unique and all of their music videos are also very unique. They work very hard whether it is writing the songs or practising the choreography or even when peforming. They have also made great acomplishments as well.
Here is the last activity!
Activity 3: Girl Power [6 points]
Jessica Mauboy is an Aboriginal Australian singer. She rose to fame when she was runner-up in the 2006 Australian Idol, and has gone on to record a number of very successful songs. She is a role model for both girls, and indigenous Australians as she has been so successful in her music and acting career.
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is an opera singer from Aotearoa/New Zealand. She became one of the best sopranos (a female singer with a high voice) in the world. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is Māori, however she was adopted when she was a baby and very little is known about her birth family.

For this activity, we would like to choose one role model and tell us about them. What makes them a role model? They can be people you know personally, people you have seen on television or the internet, people you have heard on the radio or people you have heard about from a friend of family member. You do not have to know them personally.
On your blog, tell us about your chosen role model. Please be sure to tell us why you think they are a role model.
*Please check out the Eye-Catching Blog Posts page for ideas!
For young singers, both of these women can serve as role models - people who have faced challenges and overcome them in order to achieve their dreams of becoming professional singers.
I have chosen my mother as my role model. I look up to her because she is always facing challenges and she sacrafices herself for us all the time and although it may not be big, its still a sacrafice. My mother is my role model because she has taught me many things, she was there when I was taking my first steps, she was there for me when I was sick and when I needed her. If I was sick, she would look after me and tell me to rest, when she is sick, she can't rest which is why I try my best to help her as much as I can.
That is it for today, I hope you enjoyed! If you have any questions, then please ask! Otherwise, until next time, goodby!

  1. Kia ora Parwin,

Congratulations on completing another days worth of activities! I'm so impressed by the amount of time you're putting into the Summer Learning Journey programme - great work! :)

Good song choices! Have you seen any of those artists live in concert? I love listening to live music. The most recent concert I went to was all Kiwi artists - it was so cool.

You've written a really strong justification of why you like BTS, Parwin. I can tell that you've thought carefully about it. I'd never actually heard of BTS before reading this Summer Learning Journey activity. Their songs are super catchy! Do you have a favourite band member?

What a lovely piece of writing. I'm sure your mum would love to read it. I'm glad that you have a such wonderful, supportive figure in your life. What's your favourite thing to do with your mum? When I was younger I loved going to the beach with my mum. She always swam with us and played fun games.

Have a great day, Parwin. Keep the Summer Learning Journey posts coming! :)

    Bye for now,

    Mikey

    1. Hello Mikey, thank you so much for commenting on my blog!

I do put in a lot of my time as I am trying to come first! I haven't been to a live concert before but I wish I could go with my friends.

I like all of the members but I like the vocal line the best but all of them are awesome! As I said before, most of their songs have a meaning behind it or are about certain things that we can relate to.

I like baking with her cause its really fun and when she makes a mistake, she pretends I did it and its really funny! I also love going to parties with her as she is very fun. She also likes to make my friends laugh as well.

Thank you for taking your time and writing a postive comment,
      Parwin
