Summer Learning Journey day 4

Hey bloggers, I'm back! Today is the 4th day of the Summer Learning Journey, so of course there are some activities that we have to complete and that is what I am going to be doing now. Here is what we have to do for the first activity.

Aotearoa New Zealand is a country of mountains and valleys, dense forests, and sparkling oceans. At the centre of the South Island sits the tallest mountain in the country, Aoraki Mt Cook. It is the place where Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to reach the top (summit) of Mt Everest, learned how to climb mountains. It was pretty difficult for him, at first, but Sir Edmund Hillary did not give up and, in 1953, he achieved this dream of climbing Mt Everest. His face can now be found on the New Zealand $5 note!

Let’s imagine that you met Sir Edmund Hillary in real life and were able to interview him.
On your blog, post five questions that you would like to ask Sir Edmund Hillary about his life.
Here are my 5 questions!
How come you wanted to climb Mount Everest?
What did you find difficult about climbing Mount Everest?
How did you feel while climbing the Mountain?
Did you regret climbing Mount Everest?
How did you feel when you were at the top of the mountain?
For the second activity, we have to think of our favourite food and write down how you make them. MY favourite food is Macaroni except I do something's differently and add somethings that others don't usually add. Here are the steps!
1- Peel some potatoes and cut them in even slices, you want to make sure that they aren't too big or too small though! You then want to get some onions and cut them so they are small.
2- Get your pot that you will be cooking in and put water in it. You want to wait until the water is boiling and then you get your macaroni or spaghetti and put it into that pot.
3- You then get the flavoring ready. Get a different pot and pour some oil in. Then you want to add your onions. After a while, you add some juiced, canned tomatoes and pour it in the same pot. After a while you want to add some tomato paste. I also like to add some curry powder too and some spice to it.
4- While you are doing that, you must make sure that you are keeping an eye on the other pot with the macaroni/spaghetti inside. Once your macaroni/spaghetti is soft, you then drain the water so there isn't any water left.
5- You then get that same pot and pour a little amount of oil at the bottom and then you put the potatoes at the bottom too. You then add the macaroni/spaghetti on top of the potatoes.
6- You then get the flavouring that you made and you pour it onto the macaroni. You then want to sort of mix it but making sure that you don't make the potatoes move from the bottom.
7- You then leave it to cook for about half an hour and then its ready to be eaten!
For the bonus activity, we have to imagine we have enough money to build a hotel where ever we want. And for a bonus 5 points, you do a google drawing of one of the rooms of the hotel. Here is what I have done!
Well if I had a hotel, I would make it in New Zealand because it is my home town and I would make it close to the city where there are lot's of shops. I would make my hotel out of glass. And I would add a café there too along with a place where there are toys and things so that you could hang our there. Here is a photo of the room!

  1. Hi Parwin,

Ka pai for another fantastic blog! I am really enjoying reading through them all.

The question you would ask Sir Edmund Hillary are great questions. Climbing Mount Everest must have been hard work and taken a lot of persistence. How do you think you would feel after climbing such a big mountain.

Your recipe for macaroni cheese looks yum! That is one of my favourite meals as well, that and spaghetti bolognese. I will have to try adding potato like you do in yours next time.

Your hotel sounds and looks awesome. I like your idea of putting a cafe in as well as having some toys and things to do. Who would you invite to stay at your hotel with you?

Until next time, happy blogging :)

    1. Hey Emma! Thanks for commenting on my blog!
I think that if I climbed mount Everest then I would have felt very proud of myself for climbing such a big mountain. I think that I would invite anyone who comes to my hotel and I would make it like cheaper than other hotels because I know there are some people who don't have enough money to pay for the hotel because they might be saving it for something else or they don't have that much at the moment.

Thanks for commenting on my blog,

    2. Kia ora Parwin,

You are very welcome, it's been great getting to read all the amazing Summer Learning Journey blog posts.

I think you would have every right to be proud if you did, what an achievement it would be! Who do you think you ask to come with you to support you?

That is a really kind and inclusive thing to do making your hotel affordable, some of them can be extremely expensive. What kinds of activities would your hotel have to offer?

      Emma :)
